Philip S. Ross

Philip S. Ross is a member of Hoffinger, Stern and Ross, LLP. His practice is wide and varied. Since becoming a member of the New York State Bar in 1974 he has litigated matters in both federal and state courts and has argued appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and before the Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court, First, Second and Third Departments.

In the federal courts Mr. Ross has litigated issues involving admiralty, employment law and contractual disputes, and has tried both bench and jury trials relating to employment, admiralty and contractual matters. He has also argued appeals relating to both admiralty and employment issues before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.

In the state courts he has litigated real estate matters, including residential and commercial summary proceedings, commercial lease issues, contractual disputes, estate matters, matrimonial matters and partnership and corporate dissolutions. He has also argued appeals involving real estate, employment and estate issues.

A significant part of Mr. Ross’ practice involves commercial lease negotiations, including shopping mall leases, negotiation of employment and severance agreements, real estate transactions, both simple and complex, small business transactions and estate matters.

Education

Mr. Ross obtained his law degree from the Fordham University School of Law in 1973. He was awarded a B.A. degree with a major in history from Middlebury College in 1967.
